The Preseli Orchestra was formed in July 1994 to provide opportunities for musicians of all standards, and is the only regular amateur orchestra for adults in Pembrokeshire. Do you play an orchestral instrument? We need YOU (and YOU need the Preseli Orchestra) The orchestra meets at Prendergast Junior School on Mondays from 7pm to 9pm. We also perform several concerts each year. We are always interested in new string players, and woodwind, brass and percussion players when there are vacancies. There are no auditions, and playing in the orchestra is fun. Conductor - STOP PRESS! Click here to download the recent Radio 3 interview with Leon and other members of the orchestra (1.3 mb). Percussion instruments and music stands have been purchased with a grant from National Lottery, and the Esmée Fairbairn Trust has given a grant towards running costs and purchase of music. Grants have also been received from Haverfordwest Town Council and local businesses, but otherwise the orchestra supports itself largely through subscriptions and fundraising.
We welcome enquiries from potential new members, and also from anyone interested in promoting a concert or willing to sponsor the orchestra in any way. Contact: Members old and new would be most welcome. Any musicians interested in joining the orchestra should phone 01239 615277 or 01348 881736 for more details or simply turn up on the night. |
